Instead of it being s2k all the time, why not have it be a choice?
Instead of immediately blasting someone away, you ask them via LOOC if they are okay with it being S2K or S2RP, as its pretty demoralizing to get caught jogging as a new user and a unit randomly guns you down without roleplay.
As for if S2RP is agreed upon, I've a system for it.
One /me to ready your weapon for use, and one /me to use or fire it.
Here's an example of S2RP done right:
*Webul* /me reaches into his jacket, grasping the handle of his hidden USP while the unit is distracted with another citizen, from behind, and turns off the safety
*Unit* /me is too busy with the citizen to notice the subtle, and silent, action
*Webul* /me pulls out the gun, and aims it at the back of the unit's head
*Unit* /me is alerted to the presence of the armed citizen by the other he was conversing with, and turns to face the AC, hand moving to draw his own firearm
*Webul* /me Upon the unit making the move to arm himself, fires his gun into the unit's skull, having had aim on it already.
Now, before someone says 'b-but, drama!' I know, its unavoidabe no matter what type of combat system you use. Someone's gonna bitch about their character being PKd for being S2Kd for jogging, someones gonna be upset they lost an s2rp fight.
Arguing in looc during S2RP is basically like a couple of kids arguing on the playground
"I shot you in the chest!"
"My armor deflects bullets!"
"My gun pierces armor!"
"My armor has a forcefield!"
Which is why admins should be able to be called to spectate a fight, or to settle an argument.
It will drastically reduce drama, if not prevent it altogether. Heres another example of what I mean.
In the example above,, say maybe, the unit decides to argue that his helmet prevented him from being killed? The rebel could call an admin to settle things, like so.
"Admin: You were shot in the head, your gasmask is made of plastic and does not stop bullets."
Here, is another situation in which an admin can settle to prevent drama...
*Webul* /me shoots the unit once in the chest with his USP
*unit* /me is shot in the chest, and shouts out in pain as he is knocked to the ground by the force of the bullet
*Webul*.// but I shot you in the chest, you should be dead
*Unit* .// Ballistics kevlar. Comes with the basic MPF loadut, it can stop a bullet from a USP.
*Admin* .// Yep.
*Webul* .// *cant really argue his case as thats how kevlar works*
I think I've explained this thoroughly, but if someone supplies an argument towards this, I will gladly explain why this would work out. Remember, S2K and S2RP should be made a choice, noone wants their character PKd without being given the chance to defend themselves.
